🎪 Circus Party
Roll up, roll up — the greatest party on Earth!
👶 Best for Ages 3–10
About the Circus Party Theme
Circus and carnival parties bring the magic of the big top to your backyard — and children absolutely love them. The vibrant red, white, and gold colour scheme, the variety of activities, and the sense of wonder and spectacle make this one of the most exciting party themes available for children aged 3–10. The circus theme is also wonderfully flexible — you can keep it simple with carnival games and popcorn, or go all out with hired circus performers including jugglers, clowns, stilt walkers, and face painters. Even without hired entertainment, there are dozens of DIY circus activities to keep children entertained for hours.

🎮 Games & Activities
Ring Toss
Set up bottles or pins and have children toss rings onto them. Award tickets for successful tosses. Children can trade tickets for prizes at the end — a classic carnival mechanic kids love.
Clown Bowling
Set up 6 painted clown skittles and have children roll a ball to knock them down. 3 attempts each. Tracks their score across the party.
Tightrope Walk
Lay a piece of rope or tape a line across the ground. Children must walk heel-to-toe along the “tightrope” with arms outstretched. Time each child and award the best balance.
Juggling Practice
Teach children basic juggling with scarves (much easier than balls). Circus scarves are cheap online. Most children can learn a basic 2-scarf toss in minutes and feel very proud of themselves.
Human Cannonball
Set up a tunnel or hoop and children take turns being launched through it as the “human cannonball”. Two adults hold the hoop while children run and leap through it.
Circus Parade
End the party with a circus parade around the garden. Give each child a role — lion tamer, acrobat, ringmaster, clown — and march around to circus music. A magical conclusion to the day.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Should I hire a circus performer for a circus party?
A: A professional juggler, clown, or face painter elevates a circus party enormously. Budget $150–$300 for a 1-hour performance. Face painters are particularly popular as children love taking their painted face home.
Q: What are good circus party favours?
A: Individual popcorn boxes, juggling scarves, clown noses, circus animal sticker sheets, and small magic trick kits all make brilliant circus take-home gifts.
Q: How do I create a carnival ticket system?
A: Print or buy rolls of carnival tickets. Award tickets for winning games. At the end of the party set up a “prize table” where children can spend their tickets on small toys or lollies.
